*Foster Home Wanted!*

NOTE: See? We told you he'd be pretty. Frankly, sometimes we even doubted it, but as time goes by Penn just get prettier and prettier. He looks like he's got some Himalayan in him. His body is cobby like a Himi, but he's definitely got the face and markings of a Ragdoll. Finally the healthy diet, some extra weight, and just a general sense of well being are starting to make some beautiful changes in this cat. We hardly recognize him. One couple had come to adopt his brother Orbax on two separate weekends. They were thrilled to see the difference even just one week made.

One of the most charming things about Penn is that his tail flips right over flat on his back when he's really happy. Too cute. And since beauty is only fur deep, the best part of this story is how much Penn's personality has developed. He is a sweet sweet angel boy. He's turned from shy skittish cat, to a curious, outgoing, "in your face friendly" cat. He's still got a ways to go, and he's never going to win any awards as a show cat. But if you choose to love this boy for life, he'll bring you joy for many many years.

Penn looks like a "Gangsta all Thugged Out Rapper" cat, but in reality he could be one of the Pussy Cat Dolls. Don't tell him that, though. He's all beat up looking because he came from really really bad conditions. Heck, we weren't even sure if he was a partially shorthaired cat or if he'd been shaved. That's how bad his coat was when we got him.

Thankfully V.K. is thriving on the good food in Rescue. He LOVES his wet food at night. He was scary thin when we got him but now he's put on some pretty good weight. His face was all sunken in and he looked like he was deformed, but that was mainly because he was almost starved to death. His coat is coming in and he'll look like a Ragdoll should in no time, with a medium/long coat that feels like silk. And he's a love bug.

Just give him a bit of time to get to know you, and you'll be glad you did. He gets along with the three other Ragdolls that came in with him, and given time he seems to be able to feel comfortable with other cats, too. Read more about his past below:

12 Ragdolls and Ragdoll mixes were dumped all at once at a local Animal Control facility. Apparently, a breeder who's had problems with too many cats for years is now in failing health. So her daughter just picked up a bunch of them and dropped them off. None of the cats have been altered over the years and the breeding has not been controlled, so they are not show quality by any means. Some of them may also be mixes of Siamese and or Himalayans because she was also breeding those. All of the cats were emaciated, covered with flea dirt, filled with parasites, and had barely any coats due to poor nutrition.

Being high kitten season the shelter had no space and asked us to come to meet them. All were scheduled to be euthanized if we couldn't take them immediately because they were so frightened and unsocialized. Four of the cats had to be humanely euthanized by the shelter. We did go down and were able to evaluate the remaining 8 of them. The cats were already becoming friendlier due to simple handling and feeding and some decent care by the shelter staff and volunteers. We knew we couldn't take all of the cats so we asked that the shelter keep the four most socialized that could be put up for adoption. We took the four shyest cats into foster care.

Within two weeks these cats were already blossoming. We had them wormed, so they started to gain weight and we could see that their coats are going to be wonderful. We treated them for fleas and they are feeling MUCH better. Just the act of feeding them daily helped them become friendlier. These cats had barely had food, let alone human attention.

Finally they are ready to be placed, but they still haven't reached their full potential. We are looking for foster or adoptive homes that are willing to take them into their hearts and homes and give them a chance to blossom in their care. These are really sweet cats and we've found that when cats like this finally learn to trust humans they are the most grateful and loving animal companions you can imagine.
